An appropriate strategy should be chosen for investing in our online TV business in effective way.  Also, the options of several properties for our online TV programs would be prioritized to invest as the business strategy. The justifications for choosing the order of priorities to invest in Online TV Business are as follow:

  •       Direct subscription of individual (home based) customers.
  •       Advertising in Facebook® and through Google engine searches.
  •       Pay per view in hotels.
  •       Lock in suppliers (content producers) through a portal that offers rewards for latest releases (movies, TV programmes).



The strategy process for our online business is:
1. Reaching the right customer.
2. Using the right channel.
3. At the right time.
4. With the right offering or product.

In this business strategy, the target users should be identified firstly, then analyze their behaviors, like what time and the way they prefer to choose for watching TV online. A right communication channel will set up to support the service for customers, such as search through Google engine or advertise in Facebook. Our TV online business also support right offering and product, like get revenue by pay per view in hotels and the video games rental by CD/DVD-mail.

We are group 6. We provide a company named “FantasticTime” that offer the service of online TV watching and video games rental through DVD-by-mail in the UK.

Different customer segment with specific needs
Existing  customer--this section of customer had accounts at FantasticTime, they like FantasticTime service and want get more benefit from the FantasticTime like some offer at special day.
New customer-these customer heard FantasticTime from friends , ads or search engine. They are curious about the service and product of the FantasticTime and possible to be a loyal customer of the FantasticTime.
Demographic segmentation- FantasticTime currently operates in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and the UK, it provide different languages for customer in the Europe, there is no restrict on languages and area.
Psychographic segmentation- Customer can pay for per view in FantasticTime also can see some free movie provided by FantasticTime.  If customer like to collect DVD for the movie,  FantasticTime can post the DVD within one business day after customer pay for the DVDs. It is very convenient for watch movie even online or offline after you become a FantasticTime’s member.
Lifecycle stage- FantasticTime is the UKs supplier of rental DVDs, Blu-Ray, Games, TV series and movies online, with over 70,000+ titles available. People can buy different  games and movies in one purchase.  And customer also buy product as a gift for different age of people on  FantasticTime.
Behaviour – According different type of user FantasticTime put the link in different search engine. FantasticTime would like to provide some promotion code increase their sales.

The technological factors to be considered:
1.     There are serial devices can provide customers watch TV online. Customers can watch TV on a computer screen, a television screen (through a set-top box) or a mobile device like a smart phone or an iPod. Especially, some portable devices which lets customers more convenient to watch their favorite programs. 
2.     Many selling online TV websites offer on-demand services that customers do not have to keep track of scheduling. Because those websites using webcasting or real-time streaming video.
In order to reach customers interests, lots of websites use data mining to find out customers specific interests. For instance, if a customer like watch comedy movies, websites will recommend more similar type of movie for this customer

Buy and Sell side model---Lovefilm


Background:

This is the first assignment from BI5691 - The Networked Organization course (Msc Business Information Systems 2011, Royal Holloway University of London). The aim of this post is to build an E-business model for a company, which is mainly focus on the Buy/sell sides map. Ultimately, I consider to use the “LoveFilm” as a sample to share my understanding of the e-business (www.lovefilm.com) adopted by this company. LOVEFiLM is the UKs largest supplier of rental DVDs, Blu-Ray, Games and movies online, with over 70,000+ titles available. We also offer films to stream on PS3 and Internet enable TVs

The revenue model:
Basically, the revenue model with Lovefilm is that customers have to register firstly and it will charge from their personal account monthly. Members can choose view film or TV shows online or to get physical DVDs by post.
Lovefilm is mainly focus on the clients who has the great interest to film, game, or TV programs.

1.In the case, some customers have their own memberships on other exist film-viewing websites, so they may not want to change another website and register again in order to view films on the Lovefilm.

2. Some CD/DVDs may generate the damages during the delivery, and some DVDs should be re-newed in the real time that cause more costs.
